For Busy Parents – How To Get More Done In Less Time!
Posted: August 28, 2017
Have you ever met one of those people that has a million things going on and somehow they manage to do it all and do it really well?
Every time I meet someone like that I ask what their secret is and I’m immediately disappointed to learn there is no secret.
They are just absolute masters at prioritizing and maximizing their time.
No magic pill. No secret planner or iPhone trick.
Just being more efficient with the time they already have.
One of the reasons we started an After School Program is to help parents maximize that short window of time in the afternoon.
I believe that the time efficiency of it is one of the most overlooked aspects of our After School Program
Think about this…
Kids that regularly practice martial arts:
Improve their confidence & self esteem
Become stronger physically & mentally
Learn how to protect themselves
Develop the habit of goal setting and practicing self discipline
And much, much more.
Here’s the problem – for most parents time is the biggest issue. Class schedules don’t line up, transportation, work, other activities etc etc.
If you put me in a room with 5,000 parents and said something along the lines of:
“Raise your hand if you want your child to be one or more of the following: more confident, more disciplined, healthier, stronger, more fit, respectful, able to protect themselves…etc”
I think it’s safe to say pretty much every hand in that room goes up.
Now, if I say something along the lines of:
“Ok, great! How many of you are able to dedicate 1 hour every day after school for this purpose?”
A very large percentage of those hands go down…not because they don’t want to – because they just don’t have the time.
Here’s the beauty of our After School Program – we pick your child up from school, they come back to our facility, do a martial arts lesson, and you can pick them up on your way home from work.
Not only are you maximizing their after school time – you’re adding an activity that is going to benefit them forever without adding another time obligation for yourself.
Here’s my final thought…
Kids are generally in an After School Program for about 2 hours in the afternoon.
2 hours a day x 5 days a week = 10 hours a week.
There are about 39 weeks of school.
10 hours a week x 39 weeks of school = 390 hours per school year.
What could you accomplish in 390 hours every year?
Let’s take it another level…
K-6th grade gives us 7 years…
390 hours x 7 years = 2,730 hours.
That is a HUGE chunk of time.
Could it be used better?
If so, what’s preventing you from doing so?
